8.4 Recommendations for Further Research

For further research, this study might need to ask teachers’ opinions and experiences about the implementation of the English language curriculum in Finland and Turkey through in-depth interviews. Interviews could provide information about how teaching methods applied by teachers and the materials they use are compatible with the curriculum, and most importantly, how much teachers have autonomy and flexibility on the curriculum.

Furthermore, class observations could be consulted in order to see the connection between theory and practice in English classes in Finland and Turkey; in other words, the researcher could comprehend the relation between the curriculum and its implementation in real-life as well as to monitor age-appropriateness of material selection and teaching methods through classroom observations.
