In November 2005, PSR was invited by the Gaia community to take charge of the dynamical modeling of solar system objects detected by Gaia. The ESA cornerstone mission will be launched in late 2011, and it has a nominal duration of five years. The optical path of both telescopes (Gaia will be looking in two directions simultaneously) is composed of six reflectors (M1-M6), two of which are common (M5-M6). The entrance pupil of each telescope is 1.45m * 0.5m and the focal length is 35m. The payload module features a common focal plane shared by both telescopes.

Drawing of he SIXS (Solar Intensity X-ray and particle Spectrometer) for ESA’s Bepicolombo mission to Mercury. The PI of SIXS is Juhani Huovelin from the Observatory. This large scale project will continue until 2019-20. There is also another significant contribution from the Observatory for SIXS's sister instrument MIXS, whose Co-PI is Karri Muinonen.
