Suomen ympäristökeskuksen tutkimuslaboratorio järjesti lokakuussa 1998 vertailukokeen julkisen valvonnan alaisille laboratorioille, teollisuuslaitosten laboratorioille ja tutkimuslaboratorioille. Määritettävinä analyytteinä olivat elohopea (Hg), kokonaissyanidi (CN) ja etineraaliöljyt luonnon- ja jätevesistä. Vertailuun osallistui 32 laboratorioita.

Abstract

On October 1998 the samples were distributed tp the participating laboratories for determination mercury (Hg), total scyanide (CN) and mineral oils from different waters. 32 laboratories participated the comparison test.

The average concentration, the standard deviation nad the coefficient of variation were calculated after testing the outliers with Grubbs's test. The comparison of performance of the laboratories was made by using the z scores. The results were accepted (I z ~ < 2), if they deviated less than 10-30 % from the assigned value (the synthetic sample: the theoretical concentration; the natural and waste water samples: the mean value of the data)

There were some variation in the reported uncertainties for the mercury and mineral oils determinations.

In this comparison test totally 85 % of the results can be regarded to be accepted.
