On the Review

Helsinki Law Review is published and edited by Finnish undergraduate law students. Its primary purpose is to provide Finnish law students with a forum for practicing their skills in academic writing and assessment as well as an opportunity to follow and participate in the work of their peers and seniors.

The Review is published twice a year. The Review is prepared to publish articles and other contributions in Finnish, Swedish and English. English Abstracts are provided for articles not fully written in English. The Review is available for free subscription at http://www.

helsinkilawreview.fi to organizations.

Helsinki Law Review is supervised and counselled by an Academic Council that consists of a number of senior academic staff members in the University of Helsinki Faculty of Law.

Each article is evaluated anonymously by a referee chosen among academic professionals.

A referee evaluating an article written by an undergraduate student is advised of the author’s background.

The Review may be cited as Hel. L. Rev.

From the Editors

One of the aims of Helsinki Law Review is to provide articles that can stand up to a close academic examination. Every article of the Review has gone through an academic evaluation; most of the articles have had not only one but two substance reviews. Often the first is the evaluation of a thesis paper done by the staff of the Faculty of Law of the university, and the other is the referee evaluation done by a law professional with expertise in the field of law of the article. The referee is chosen by the Review and the referee procedure in the Review is anonymous. Through an aca- demic and anonymous referee procedure it is possible to ensure that the article fulfills the require- ments of an academic article. In addition, all articles are subjected to an editorial process before and after the referee evaluation designed to sharpen and strengthen substance and tone. Further, the quality of the Review is supervised by Academic Council, which consists of law professors of the University of Helsinki.

With enthusiastic, highly motivated and talented undergraduate authors, taking advantage of the effective referee procedure, the Review is able to provide new perspectives and refreshing ideas to the academic discussion. All articles of the Review are nowadays published in Edilex legal infor- mation service (www.edilex.fi) with other Finnish juridical and academic law journals, books and articles.

We thank all our great referees for their efforts to Helsinki Law Review. We encourage our readers and colleagues to give us feedback to develop Helsinki Law Review further and generate content to the following issues of the Review.
