Johannes Pernaa

Johannes Pernaa works at the Department of Chemistry in University of Helsinki. As a university lecturer of chemistry education his main research area is to develop chemistry teacher education through research. Johannes’ research focus is information and commucation technology in chemistry education, which includes a lot of learning environment development through educational design research. Johannes has over decade of experience in design-based research including doctoral dissertation from 2011 and multiple research articles. His has also worked as the editor of book called “Design-based Research in Education”

(published in 2013, Finnish title “Kehittämis- tutkimus opetusalalla”).

Veli-Matti Vesterinen

Veli-Matti Vesterinen works as a university lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, University of Turku. As an educational design researcher he is especially interested in various forms of collaboration and co-design in science and sustainability education. His other research interests include nature of science, inquiry learning, science communication as well as students’ and teachers’ role as sociopolitical actors.
