Linum 50 years – Big & Bold - Swedish design since 1966

Linum celebrates 50 years of Swedish design - with a bang!

Introducing ”Big & Bold - A Swedish Love Story” - a brave new homage to the sophisticated style Linum has championed for half a century. Big & Bold not only delivers a brave new collection of textile creations for the modern urban home, it also introduces a whole new series of products for the dining room, including plates, cups, dishes, bowls, candle holders, cutting boards and mortars – in massive, solid materials with smooth surfaces like marble, wood, ceramic and brass.

Inspired by the visual wonders of Swedish nature and the abstract shapes of modern Swedish sculpture, this vibrant celebratory collection re-imagines traditional ticking stripes and weaving techniques in a daring new colour palette. A bigger, bolder version of timeless Swedish design.

In particular, Linum’s signature stripes have been given a playful Jubilee touch, with graphic amplifications of traditional patterns in bold, modern compositions and colour combinations.

The edgy, yet sophisticated palette includes strong combinations of blues, greens and turquoises, browns and rusty reds, pink, black and cream. For example, the striped, calendered

cushion cover GABLE and the hand woven woolen rug BRANDO.

With the working title ”A Swedish Love Story”, this season’s collection also comes in rounder patterns with big, organic shapes inspired by abstract modern Swedish sculpture. Taking on a tactile, almost three-dimensional quality, with accentuated details and broad, minimalist strokes.

Big and bold.

Swedish nature, as in any Linum collection, is also omnipresent. Simple, decorative leaves and vines add a sense of natural beauty and organic, florid ornamentation that ties the collection together. Good examples include the hand tufted shaggy rug MULHOLLAND and the printed linen cushion cover CARY.

Using finely crafted fabrics in natural materials like cotton, wool, silk and linen, the Big & Bold collection breathes style, tactility and quality in every detail. Taking pride in the exceptional quality of its traditional craftsmanship. For example, Linum has rediscovered calendered

cotton/linen, a cherished weaving technique of old layering linen on top of a broken twill weave, which makes for a shinier, more luxurious finish with a lush, urban look and feel.

The Big & Bold collection comes in a complete range of creations for the modern urban home:

cushions, bedspreads, curtains, kitchen textiles, tablecloths, robes, blankets and rugs for the bedroom, kitchen, living room and bathroom. Iconic centerpieces include the woolen embroidered cushion cover CITIZEN, which combines a time-honored weaving style with a powerful modern pattern created by amplifying bold paintbrush strokes. CITIZEN also comes as an ultra high quality shaggy rug, hand tufted in Sweden in collaboration with top tier Swedish rugmaker Kasthall.

With the jubilee collection ”Big & Bold - A Swedish Love Story”, Linum celebrates its heritage

and takes its urban vision of traditional Swedish style to a new level.
