CIRCULAR ECONOMY and Sourcing

This assignment is part of wider course.

Assembled and Created by Eeva Aarnio, Haaga-Helia UAS 2019

This assignment is based on tasks to study certain terms related to context circular economy and sourcing.

The task could be done an individual or a team task. The assignment has been written to have a small team for phase 1 and bigger teams for phase 2 and phase 3. The used study platform has been Moodle. A student can visit some fair or other business event for phase 1.

ASSIGNMENT instructions: SOURCING Learning objectives

The objective of this task is to make you to understand basic principles of sourcing concept in circular supply. You will evaluate a sector or company.

You can use the same one in all assignments.

This assignment is consisting of several parts:

1. observing during fairs related to business (individual) or

if you are not participating the fair screening three company (individual)

2. pre-work before the contact session (individual) 3. finalizing your work in contact session (in teams) Phase 1. Observing during a fair (or some other CE-event)

Phase 2. Study the main principles of sourcing in CE and given examples and analyse your case company or a business sector.

Study the terms related to the sourcing and define:

 Green purchasing, Sustainable sourcing, other terms with the similar meanings

 Circular supply

2. Select one company or business sector or continue already selected one.

 Analyse the process of sourcing.

o How much the company or business sector is using recycled or recyclable material?

o Does the company or business sector have any environmental KPIs as additional decision criteria in buying criteria?

o How about Code of Contact, anything for Circular Economy and sourcing?

o How they engage suppliers?

If you analyse a business sector, please use other than machinery & equipment, marine, energy or transportation. These are already analysed in the booklet. You can use for example textile, constructive industry, food etc.

Phase 3. Reflections of the results (in class)

1. Compare your findings and create common view 2. Finalized your Power Point slides.

3. Couple of cases will be present to the whole class (Power Point slides).

4. Post your team Power Point slides to study platform by dd.mm. at latest. Remember to add your sources to the end of your notes.
