Finnish Journal of eHealth and eWelfare (FinJeHeW) is a scientific journal established by the Finnish Social and Health Informatics Association (FinnSHIA) and the Finnish Society of Telemedicine and eHealth (FSTeH), and it also serves as the official journal for the members of the establishers.

Aim of FinJeHeW

The Journal was established in 2009.

The aim of the Journal is to promote scientific research, communication and education in the fields of information and communication technology relating to social and health care, telemedicine, eHealth and eWelbeing.

Financial assistance has been granted to the journal by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies since 2010. FinJeHeW benefits the members of the associations further by functioning as an

information channel, multi- disciplinary publication forum, and supporter for the international network.

Articles

The Journal welcomes articles on information and communication techno- logy of social and health care,

telemedicine, eHealth, and eWelbeing.

Instructions for authors can be found on the Journal website. FinJeHeW is mainly a Finnish language journal, but also includes articles, abstracts and other material in English and, if necessary, in Swedish as well.

All submitted manuscripts are evaluated by the editor. Manuscripts that are consid- ered suitable for publication in the Journal are sent to two referees for assessment.

The scientific articles must comply with the Vancouver style (International Com- mittee of Medical Journal Editors 2000).

Publication principles

The Journal is published in electronic form and includes four issues per year. Each issue can be accessed free of charge three months after the date of publica-

tion. Before that, the journal can be accessed by way of usernames

and passwords of the members of the related associations, or

an author password issued by the editor.

Members of the associations

The associations have aproximately 500 per- sonal members in total, as well as a few dozen company or community members.

The members are experts in the fields of health care, social affairs-related administration, research, development,

management and the hands-on work both from the public and private sectors and companies in the field.

The fields of special interest of the associations include information

and communication systems of social and health care, related applications, processes, devel- opment, rsearch and education, as well as telemedicine. The members are among the key persons of their respective organi- zations.
